About Us
Almedtrac, Inc. is a University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) spin-off that started full product development in February of 2008. Rick Engberg, founder and inventor, provided IT support to over 100 clinical trials during his 16 years with Pitt. During that time, he created Study 360™ software to solve an unaddressed problem that he observed in all clinical trials: Protocol Management.
Existing methods of managing clinical trial protocols lack a rigorous and systematic approach. As a result, clinical trials are wasteful, expensive, and inaccurate. Current practice is to employ some combination of paper systems, general-purpose databases, spreadsheet systems (e.g. Access®, Excel®), and custom built software. None of these adequately address the challenge of accurately managing day-to-day trial operations. It has been reported that trial management accounts for up to 60% of overall trial costs (DCRI). Current methods:
- Create cost and time overruns
- Increase the risk for trial errors and protocol violations
- Ultimately, increase the risk for regulatory and legal action
Study 360 solves these problems by automating the workflow and creating a data trail that then becomes the foundation of the clinical trial management process. The software provides real-time tracking, multi-site coordination, and the opportunity for interim analysis.
